Tell us amount lilylimes!
Debbie and Ron Lime are the owners of lilylimes.  lilylimes started very simply – Debbie loves children and to give gifts and loves finding the perfect gift.  And so, the adventure began. We have been open nearly 10 years and located inside The Shops at Worthington Place, near the play area. We offer gifts and apparel from Newborn to Size 6 for boys and girls, and much more. Our name came from Debbie’s favorite flower, the Calla Lily and our last name blended together.

What do you love most about the Worthington/ Columbus community?

We love Worthington and Columbus for many reasons.  We appreciate the wonderful sense of community, the sports, delicious restaurants, parks, arts and entertainment too.  We love calling Columbus home!

What are your favorite children’s books right now and why?

lilylimes loves another local author and illustrator team here in Columbus. J.G. Piper, author and Linda Apple, illustrator teamed up for three wonderful books. Our favorites are: “Black Cats get a Bad Rap,” “A Dog by any Other Name is Not the Same,” and “Curious World: Tales of Imagination.” Another adorable favorite is “Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake” by Michael Kaplan.

Black Cats get a Bad Rap

Do black cats deserve the bad rap that they get? These black cats get a chance to express themselves and tell their side of the story! Clever rhymes and beautiful cat illustrations will captivate children, and young readers will look forward to every page-turn. The black cats tell their stories in a way that is fun and funny, and by the end of the book, readers both young and old will delight in saying, "I'm a black cat who got a bad rap." The short poetic verses are gorgeously illustrated by internationally known artist Linda Apple. Her illustrations are rich with color and cat-personality. Read the book, and decide for yourself: are black cats as bad as all that?

A Dog By Any Other Name is Not the Same

What makes a dog special? Is it their breed? Is it their color? Could it be their personality? Or maybe it’s what they love to do? Maybe it’s time to ask our four-legged friends, and see what they have to say for themselves.

In his next children’s picture book, “A Dog By Any Other Name is Not the Same,” author J.G. Piper takes a look at what makes each dog unique. Each dog is a different breed, lives in a different place, and offers a different perspective. They tell their stories in captivating rhyme and rhythm, and every page is stunningly illustrated by internationally-known artist, Linda Apple. Readers of all ages will discover what our furry storytellers have to say about their place in the world. And as you get to know each dog, you’ll find a way to celebrate your own unique presence in life.

Curious World: Tales of Imagination

In this book, written by J.G. Piper, photographer Lawrence Longsnout, our four-legged narriotor, tells us about his travels and all the interesting animal characters he’s met and photographed along the way in his scrapbook. For each animal, Lawrence recites a poem which is accompanied by their photo. Some of the characters include: Watchdog George, who is devoted to precision and punctuality, Willa, an aspiring ballerina, and free-spirited Coyote Jack. Our kids delighted in seeing the animals dressed in clothes and poured over the gorgeous illustrations which were created by the author's mother, artist Linda Apple.

Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake

Meet Betty Bunny, a loveable handful nobunny can resist.

From author Michael B. Kaplan, creator of Disney’s T.V. show Dog with a Blog, comes the debut picture book of the Betty Bunny series. It's a story about patience—seen through the eyes of a precocious preschooler.

Betty Bunny is the youngest in her family of rabbits and she’s just discovering the important things in life, like chocolate cake. She declares, “I am going to marry chocolate cake” and takes a piece to school with her in her pocket. Mom values healthy eating and tells Betty Bunny she needs patience when it comes to dessert. But Betty Bunny doesn’t want patience, she wants chocolate cake! In this funny tribute to chocolate lovers (and picky eaters), Betty Bunny’s charming perspective on patience will be recognizable to anyone with a preschooler in their life.
