Big Ideas For Little Minds
When friends Lauren Kelley, a writer, and Emmy Mitchell, an illustrator, couldn’t find the perfect books to help teach life lessons to their kids, they decided to do something about it! Together they started Books with Purpose, a series of children’s books designed to support parents as they teach their little ones lessons of love, safety, and healthy habits to last their lifetimes.
Lauren Kelley writes stories for pre-readers and early readers. She earned her degree in English, with a minor in Disability Studies, at The Ohio State University, where she co-edited the opening book of the Deaf Lives Series, Alone in the Mainstream, and contributed to the introduction. She started her career as a public relations professional for a Fortune 100 health care company, but left her corporate role to pursue her love of writing while traveling the world. She ended up back in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, after realizing her best friend was also her soul mate. They married and moved to Powell, Ohio with children Leo, Beckett, and Blake.
Emmy Mitchell is a graphic designer and illustrator living in Columbus, Ohio. She earned an MFA in the Interdisciplinary Studio Program at PennDesign, but ran for Corporate America when she realized that her work wouldn’t pay the bills. Having worked for a few different companies and lived in a few different cities, she met her husband and settled in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, where she started her own design company and began illustrating children’s books. She enjoys dance parties and reading with her twin boys.
Everyone enjoys time at the swimming pool! When it comes to preventing pool accidents and drownings in young children - especially toddlers - constant adult supervision is a must. In addition, parents can add layers of protection in and around the water by discussing pool safety basics with their kids before they go on spring break or walk through the gates of their local pool. Written by a former lifeguard and swim instructor, Beckett Beaver's simple "do" and "don't" format helps young kids understand pool rules.

Follow the adventures of Baby Tooth as he navigates dental health in a fun way kids can understand!
Is there a child in your life who doesn't want to brush his teeth or is struggling to make nutritious food choices? Is she excited (or scared) about losing her first tooth? Is your child facing a trip to the dentist for a cavity? The Baby Tooth series tackles these situations through the eyes of Baby Tooth.
Dentists recommend that parents brush their child's teeth twice a day for two minutes at a time - but getting kids to brush isn't always easy! Tickle Your Teeth is a book that makes learning about oral health engaging for kids. Baby Tooth explains why he loves brushing away sugar bugs in the morning and again at night, teaching kids lifelong habits for keeping their teeth clean and healthy.
Healthy smiles and bodies for tomorrow start with good nutrition habits today! Baby Tooth knows that brushing twice a day helps him stay clean, but he hasn't learned which foods are better for him than others. Nutrition 101 With Baby Tooth makes comparing foods fun for kids as they join Baby Tooth in the classroom to learn how simple whole foods are a better choice over sugary, sticky, and processed foods.
When Baby Tooth isn't feeling well, he makes an appointment with his dentist to find out what's wrong. Discovering he has a cavity makes him feel overwhelmed with emotion until his dentist and hygienist explain that everything is going to be OK. Baby Tooth Gets A Cavity explains what a cavity is and the process of getting a filling in a way that helps kids know what to expect while easing any possible fears.
Baby Tooth Meets The Tooth Fairy explores an age-old question: who is the Tooth Fairy and where does she take baby teeth? When Baby Tooth and his friends start to wiggle, jiggle, then finally fall out, they begin an adventure that uncovers the mystery behind the Tooth Fairy, including where she takes baby teeth once they leave their child's mouth.
